Jennifer Gerstenzang
About
Jennifer Gerstenzang was born and raised in upstate New York. She earned her Bachelor of Arts at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, then traveled to and remained in San Diego, California where she earned her Juris Doctor at California Western School of Law. There, she was selected as a student member in the California Innocence Project, helping reverse the injustices of the criminal legal system. Always drawn to the fight for justice on behalf of the underrepresented, she interned with the San Diego County Public Defender’s Office, where she fell in love with advocacy and litigation. She was hired immediately after being licensed as an attorney.
She practiced criminal defense for over a decade in both the private and public sectors. During that time, she represented clients in all aspects of their cases, including negotiations, contentious hearings, and jury trials. She spent five rewarding years helping hard-working community members clean up their criminal records to open new doors to opportunities in their futures. She enjoys learning about all angles and aspects of her clients and cases to achieve the best possible result.
She enthusiastically joined Zakay Legal Group where she continues representing those in need who are often navigating the legal system for the first time. Her focus is on wage and hour issues, misclassification, and unfair business practices.
